The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on renaming the state capital Astana to Nursultan. The document is published on the official website of the President of Kazakhstan.
“In accordance with article 9 of the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan from December 8, 1993 “On administrative-territorial system”, I decree: to rename the capital of Kazakhstan Astana in the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, – the document says.
The document comes into force after its publication – from March 23.
