Capitale-Nationale ranked 4th among the most affected regions
Capitale-Nationale is now the fourth region in Quebec most affected by COVID-19. On Tuesday, 46 new cases were identified, bringing the number of infected residents to 79.
The most affected region is that of Montreal (439 cases), followed by the Estrie (130 cases) and Montérégie (125 cases) regions.
In addition to the 79 residents of the Capitale-Nationale, two people from outside have been diagnosed in the region at the start of screening activities.
“The current increase in positive cases in our region was expected and should continue in the coming weeks. I therefore ask everyone to follow the prescribed isolation procedures to the letter in order to ensure the health and safety of the population of our region, ”reiterated by press release the director of public health of the Capitale-Nationale. , Dr. François Desbiens.
The new cases identified are people of all ages who have been in contact with positive cases or with people who have traveled abroad, and who are currently in segregation at home.
“As required by the rigorous epidemiological investigation process, all those identified as close contacts have been contacted and are also in compulsory isolation. In this sense, they present no risk to the population. Samples were taken from those showing symptoms and the results of these tests, if they prove positive, will be communicated in the coming days, “said Dr. Desbiens.
