COVID-19: the platform of the Ministry of Education The Open School is online
The web platform The open school is put online Monday by the government of Quebec in order to allow the schoolchildren and their parents to carry out activities during the suspension of the courses caused by the crisis of COVID-19.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Jean-François Roberge, explains that the platform was designed in a playful spirit. It offers varied resources giving access to activities of different natures in several subjects and at all school levels.
Minister Roberge believes that these activities, whether academic, social or physical, will help to improve students’ knowledge and skills in a number of areas.
New content will be added every week. Additions to make it easier to find activities for students with special needs will also be available soon, according to the minister.
These activities are not compulsory and cannot be evaluated.
Last week, the ministry announced that it would send a turnkey educational activity kit to schools, ready to send to parents.
This initiative, put into effect on Monday, is combined with the weekly follow-ups that will be carried out by the schools with all of the students and with the follow-up of professional resources with vulnerable students.
