American physicians in five States in the country recorded an epidemic of intestinal infection, the source of which has not yet been able to establish. About it reports the Center for control and prevention of diseases, reports Science Alert.
The disease arose from the bacterium Escherichia coli – E. coli strain O103.
For the first time about the beginning of the epidemic, said March 2. Reportedly “sickened 72 people ranging in age from one year to 74 years.” That day from 36 patients were found in Kentucky.
Doctors call these symptoms of infection: severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. At the moment about the deaths have not been reported.
According to doctors, “the pathogenic bacteria derived from the same source, and may be associated with a particular food, shop or network of power”. At the same time the source of infection has not yet been installed.
It is worth noting that since 2000 years, this is the eighteenth outbreak strain in the United States.
