He became part of the “Turgenev’s quarter” of the artist, open to the 200th anniversary of the writer. The ceremony was attended by President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
“Turgenev quarter” includes a house-Museum with adjoining land, sculpture Mumu and relaxation area for visitors. The anniversary of the writer house Museum was restored by strengthening the supporting structures, recreating old drawings of wooden stairs to the second floor and updating the interior and exterior. Now the house appeared and the monument to Turgenev, the author of which is sculptor Sergey Kazantsev. This is the first monument to the writer in the capital it was planned to install in 2001, but in Bobrov pereulok in 2003, there was a bust.
The monument to Vladimir Putin and Sergei Sobyanin laid flowers. The President also noted that the opening of the monument to Turgenev is an important event for the Russian culture and he hoped that the house-Museum is always a lot of visitors.
