Life expectancy again decreased for people living in the United States in 2017, according to three reports published by the government today,29 November.

This figure increased four-fold since 1999, according to The Washington Post , whereas mortality, especially related to opioids, in 2017, was almost six times higher than in 1999. According to experts, every year, a growing number of people who take fentanyl – a dangerous illegal drug, which distribute to street dealers.

According to the data, deaths associated with fentanyl increased from 19 413 deaths in 2016 to 28 466 in 2017.

In addition to deaths from overdoses, suicide rates in America increased by 3.7 percent compared with the year 2016. Among men the rate increased by 26 percent between 1999 and 2017. Currently, nearly 22 per 100,000 deaths in men can be attributed to suicide.

Due to a sharp increase in overdose deaths and suicide, the Americans now have a life expectancy of 78.6 years, compared to 78.7 years in 2016.
