Sale of alcohol prohibited in Manawan
The Manawan Atikamekw Council temporarily suspended the sale of alcoholic beverages on its territory in addition to controlling entry into the community.
The elected officials are indicating that these measures are taken to curb the spread of Covid-19 and above “to contribute especially to the ban of indoor and outdoor gatherings.”
The sale of alcoholic beverages was therefore temporarily suspended in the community of Manawan.
“The Council agreed that there would be no sale of alcohol in the three businesses that hold permits for the sale of alcoholic beverages,” said a press release.
The directive is already in force until further notice. The Council affirms that this preventive measure is essential to ensure the smooth running of daily activities over the next few days.
“Public security will therefore ensure compliance with this extremely rare measure,” said the Council.
This measure occurs while throughout the province branches of the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) and the Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) appear in the list of essential services and are always open.
