Schools closed until the end of the school year in New Brunswick

New Brunswick Minister of Education says unless province-wide COVID-19 situation improves, schools in province will remain closed for the rest of the school year due to pandemic.
Dominic Cardy said that the immediate concern remains public health and safety, while saying that his ministry is determined to help students continue their studies while the schools are closed.

He says students will be asked to spend one to two and a half hours a day learning at home, depending on their grade level. The Minister maintains that the school year will not be extended.

Information on home learning will be posted on a new family resource website.

Students are also encouraged to read for at least 30 minutes and to practice 30 minutes of physical activity each day.

Cardy says all of the students who were on track in January to advance to the next level will do so, and those who were expected to graduate.
