Inspired by the Chronicles of San Francisco ofArmistead Maupin, the original series of Netflix Tales of the City opens its first chapter on a love story. Mary Ann (Laura Linney) comes back into the present city of San Francisco, where she found her daughter Shawna (Ellen Page) and her ex-husband Brian (Paul Gross), twenty years after having left in order to pursue his professional career. His life, despite the row in Connecticut will eventually trigger a midlife crisis. Mary Ann finds himself suddenly propelled into the world of Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis), surrounded by a chosen family of Anna and of a generation of young queers, living at 28 Barbara Lane.

Netflix today unveiled the first official images of the series. Photos on which there is Laura Linney in the role of Mary Ann Singleton, Olympia Dukakis as Anna Madrigal, but also Ellen Page in Shawna Hawkins, Murray Bartlett in Michael Tolliver, with Charlie Barnett in the skin of his boyfriend Ben Marshall, and finally May Hong in the role of Margot, with her boyfriend Jake.
