Katy Keene, another property of Archie Comics, will be developed by the showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
Jane the Virgin will come to an end this year in the spring, but the CW has wanted to continue the adventure : the spin-off announced last year has been confirmed (for the moment), and a pilot will be shot. It will, in fact, based on the novels fictitious, written by Jane in Jane the Virgin. Concretely, the project (still untitled) is described as a soap anthological, inspired by telenovelas, which tell about each season a different book “written by” Jane. In voice-over, this spin-off would return Gina Rodriguez, as Jane would do the narration. The first season, called “Tar & Roses”, will take place at the crossroads of the wine region of Napa Valley and the art scene of San Francisco.
And this is not all that prepares CW. The channel has also ordered a pilot spin-off of Riverdale : Katy Keene, another property of Archie Comics, is being developed by the showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Legend of fashion, Katy Keene and her group of friends in their twenties have the intention to go to New York. The show is described as a comedy musical based on aspiring artists in pursuing their dreams on Broadway, on the catwalks and in the recording studio. A kind of mix between Gossip Girl and Fame , in fact !
The CW will decide in the coming months if these two projects are validated in series and controlled for the grid 2019-2020.
